Nestled above the picturesque town of Midway
and resting in the shadow of the Wasatch Mountains lies Soldier
Hollow at Wasatch Mountain State Park. Although it is primary known
as an Olympic venue, Soldier Hollow hosts a variety of activities
throughout the fall, spring and summer. Athletes of world-class
ability and weekend recreationists enjoy the facility on a year-round
basis.
The primary building on the Soldier Hollow grounds
is the beautiful awarding winning Lodge,
which can be booked for wedding receptions, family gatherings and
other functions. The Competition Center is home to the eighty student
Soldier Hollow Charter School, and also serves as the nerve center
for major events, ranging from U.S. Cross Country Skiing Championships
to the annual Soldier Hollow Classic Sheepdog Championships.
The facility features a 31-kilometer trail system
for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and mountain
biking (including mountain bike biathlon), hiking and equestrian
use in the summer.
In addition to the trail
system, a state-of-the-art biathlon
range that was used for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
sits in a protected knoll. The target range is used for a variety
of summer and winter two-sport activities.
A tubing park, with music
and lights, has two lifts and several lanes up to 1,200 feet long,
allowing people of all ages the chance to enjoy the snow.
